Mandy - Nellestein

Het is een artistieke buurt hier. En dat voelt goed. We zijn gezegend met topmuzikanten als buren, er huist een meester stoffeerder en authentieke meubelmaker aan ons straatje, bij de eerste zie ik ook nog wel eens een schilderij op de ezel staan en twee buurjongens één ruim links en één ruim rechts van mijn atelier ontfermen zich met verve over oldtimers. Eén daarvan is Hendrik.

Paste ik als de dag van gisteren nog op zijn cavia als hij met zijn ouders op vakantie ging, hede ten dagen is hij de trotse bezitter van een illustere garage die zich specialiseert in Franse wagens, met name Peugeot ‘s. Hij heeft er vaak pareltjes staan met een mooi verhaal.

Ik mocht er twee gebruiken als model voor de expositie bij Galerie Zuid. En zeg nu zelf, als zoiets je aankijkt met die bejaarde bolle koplampjes… daar hoort toch een grote glimlach bij?

A youngster in the old-timer world

It's an artsy neighborhood here. And that feels good. We are blessed with top musicians as neighbours, an master upholsterer and authentic furniture maker lives on our street, at the first I sometimes see a painting on the easel and two neighbor boys, one to the left and one to the right of the Hoogzit, take care of vintage cars with passion. One of them is Hendrik.

I used to babysit his guinea pig like yesterday when he went on holiday with his parents. Today he is the proud owner of an illustrious garage that specializes in French cars, especially Peugeots. He often has gems with a beautiful story.

I was allowed to use two of them as models for the exhibition at Galerie Zuid. And now say for yourself, if you look at something like this with those elderly round shaped headlights… that goes with a big smile, doesn't it?
