Ik heb zojuist Poly, de zomerstorm die nu over de Nederlanden raast, getrotseerd. Niet dat ik zo’n held ben. In onze contreien valt het nog mee. Al moest ik het stuur van mijn fiets goed vasthouden en ploeterde ik met een katoenen broek die nu van glimmend leer leek door een ware rivier onze heuvel op. Met groot respect voelde ik hoe de natuurkrachten aan mij trokken, hoorde hoe zij om mij heen bulderden en besefte maar weer eens dat wij maar zulke pieterpeuterige elementjes zijn ten opzichte van deze gigantische elementen. Dat we ons als toch best vaak eigenwijze mensjes wel wat bescheidener op mogen stellen in het grote geheel waarin we meedraaien.

In het centrum van Ede kon je, zoals dat zo wonderlijk heet, een kanon afschieten. Geen andere zot die zich in de winkelstraat waagde. Maar ik had een missie. De afdruk ophalen voor de Lepelkoenroute. Dit betreft een illustratie die gebruikt wordt in een boekje dat een speurtocht begeleidt. Een speurtocht naar het fenomeen de Lepelkoen, een wezentje dat zich in park de Hoge Veluwe bevindt.

Ook de Lepelkoen heeft een missie. Dit Kleine Volk wil de kinderen van het Grote Volk er bewust van maken hoe prachtig alles in elkaar steekt in de natuur en dat de mens daarin deel is van die grote natuur. Hoe belangrijk het is respect te hebben en te tonen voor het leven dat ons daarbuiten omringt,het leven dat ons voedt.

Missies en passie… wij kleine elementen kunnen met een ander soort wijsheid wel grootse ruimte scheppen voor elkaar en daarmee voor mooie dingen. Daarin ben ik Henk Ruseler nog altijd diep dankbaar gehoor te hebben gegeven aan het Kleine Volk dat door mij wilde spreken.

Hij voerde jaren een gepassioneerde missie als gezicht van de Hoge Veluwe en heeft zoveel mensen geïnspireerd en getrakteerd op een prachtige kijk op de natuur.

Maar zojuist vernam ik dat hij vanwege zijn gezondheid zijn werk helaas moet staken. Dat doet me verdriet. Hij gaat, ik quote zijn woorden “nog niet de dekking in”. Gelukkig. Maar legt wel zijn publieke taken neer.

Ondertekenend element en het voltallige Kleine Volk wensen hem in die schuilplaats en plaats van rust alle goeds toe om uit te zien naar de grootste ruimte met de mooiste dingen en vergezichten die hem ongetwijfeld te wachten staan. Petje af voor deze prachtige mens, dit waardevolle "element" in het gigantische geheel.

Valuable elements

I have just braved Poly, the summer storm now raging over the Netherlands. Not that I'm much of a hero. In our regions it is still not too bad. Even though I had to hold onto the handlebars of my bike and slog through a rough streaming river up our hill in cotton pants that now looked like shiny leather. With great respect I felt how the force of nature roared around me and realized once again that we are such tiny elements compared to these gigantic elements. That we, as quite often stubborn people, can be a bit more modest in the big picture in which we participate.

In the center of Ede you could, as it is so wonderfully called, shoot off a cannon. No other fool dare to venture into the shopping street. But I had a mission. Pick up the print for the Lepelkoen route. This is an illustration that is used in a booklet that accompanies a treasure hunt. A quest for the Lepelkoen phenomenon, a creature that can be found in the Hoge Veluwe park.

The Lepelkoen also has a mission. These Little People want to make the children of the Great People aware of how beautifully everything is put together in nature and that man is part of that great nature. How important it is to respect and show respect for the life that surrounds us out there.

Missions and passion… we small elements can, with a different kind of wisdom, create great space for each other and therefore for beautiful things. I am still deeply grateful to Henk Ruseler for having listened to the Little People who wanted to speak through me. He has been pursuing the same mission for years and as the face of the Hoge Veluwe he has inspired so many people and treated them to a beautiful view of nature. Although I just heard that he unfortunately has to stop working due to his health. That saddens me. He goes, I quote his words “not into cover yet”.Luckily. But does have to say goodbye to his public contributions.

Signatory element and the entire Little People wish him well in that shelter and place of rest to look forward to the greatest space with the most beautiful things and vistas that undoubtedly await him. Hats off for this beautiful person, this element of great worth in the gigantic All that Is.
